 Re: Large Parking Lots
It's hard to find a spot that has what is needed. Space, clear of obstacles, and most important, lack of entry. Henderson makes a great spot as it is fenced on three sides and only has two enty points on the open side.
I've got an idea I'm checking on though...

 Re: Large Parking Lots
Anyone know why the BOE said that SCCA could not use the parking lot at the stadium?

 Re: Large Parking Lots
Assuming you are talking about the WR stadium...
Officially, they never gave a reason, I answered all their questions and concerns with concrete info and they came back with a reason of "no, just because."
Unofficially, I heard one of the guys on the council goes to church right there close by and was worried about noise.

 Re: Large Parking Lots
I know the originally kicked them off because they repaved the surface years ago.

 Re: Large Parking Lots
Henderson is a great location but the surface sucks donkey ass. ROcks and pebbles and sand and what not. Terrible grip, even on slicks in my opinion. Has anyone checked with the track in Twiggs? It's got a pretty big and freshly paved lot, those guys are pretty cool and will prolly let us use it if it meets SCCA specs.

 Re: Large Parking Lots
I asked JJ once about that, never heard back and kinda forgot about it. How big is the paved surface in comparison to Henderson?

I've always been out there at night and it's been a while. Smaller than henderson, but much more area than cordele. Flat, very smooth, a ditch in one end but that caould be coned off.

 Re: Large Parking Lots
They passed it but it requires permits, emergency techs, stuff like that. More like a full blow event, lots of $$$$ to make it fit the bill that passed.

 Re: Large Parking Lots
twiggs does have a good bit of room when you consider the amount of extra they leave after filling up for a track day i know it wouldn't be amazing but it would be pretty good

 Re: Large Parking Lots
Thanks Jimmy. Yea it would be nice to know if they would consider allowing us to use their lot. Let them know that our events are fully sanctioned by the SCCA. SCCA provides insurance and all that good stuff. If they want to talk to someone let me know and I'll get you my e-mail address, or if they want to give you their e-mail address I can e-mail them.
